Lextech Labs and Verizon Wireless Featured in Tidewater Review

Technology from Lextech Labs and Verizon Wireless were featured in an article in the Tidewater Review on July 13, 2011.

Excerpt from the article…”Tested at Colonial Downs for the Strawberry Hill races in May, the “wide-area, real-time video security surveillance technology cameras come to the rescue monitoring and security solutions” from Verizon Wireless and LexTech Labs have proved handy during big events.

During the race, the emergency and sheriff’s office crews were equipped with six iPads, an iPhone and three desktops at a central station to survey the grounds.
Previous to the event, seven cameras were placed to view high traffic areas, such as the parking lot and track entrances, in real-time.

This allowed the officers to get a 360-degree bird’s eye view of the crowds. The devices hold numerous images at once. “We were able to watch the crowds, foot traffic, and automobile traffic,” said Dale Rollason, of the New Kent County Fire & Rescue.

In the past, officers would have to call for backup while amidst the 200,000 guests. With the mobile devices, officers watched the crowd’s behavior and called for backup from many different locations.”
