Video That Just Works
At Lextech Labs, our fundamental belief is that mobile is where every video implementation needs to start — that’s where the end user is who actually cares about the video. The full solution builds on top of mobile, not the other way around.
- Common Platform. LexRay allows all members of a team to view the same video for mobile investigations or managing live critical incidents, no matter which mobile device they use. LexRay works on all iOS devices, web browers and Blackberry platforms.
- No Lag. LexRay constantly monitors the latency and adapts the video stream. This happens for every user and every video feed independently so as each users’ network conditions change, their video also changes. This provides lag free video regardless of the connection type. The user can trust that what they are seeing is what is happening right now.
- Multi-VMS Support. The multi-VMS capability puts video from many different VMS platforms all on screen at the same time. Many existing infrastructures are mixed environments and require the use of different tools to view them all. LexRay puts all that information in a single interface. That means a user can have video from multiple Milestone, OnSSI, Vaytek, View Commander or other systems all usable at the same time.
- Secure Video. The LexRay server sits in front of the VMS systems (presumably in a DMZ) while the VMS stays protected on the private LAN. The communications between the server and the mobile client can all be encrypted with SSL. This encrypts the video being delivered into the field providing complete end to end secure video.
VMS systems were created to scale with lots of cameras, but not lots of users. Most organizations want the exact opposite. They want to take their cameras and make them widely available to lots of users. A large pool of users pulling video from VMS servers directly heavily impacts system performance. The LexRay server scales up the video infrastructure by taking a single feed from the VMS and distributing it to the mobile users. Multiple LexRay servers can be employed to provide high levels of scalability distributing the video and taking the load off the VMS systems.
The multi-VMS capability comes from LexRay’s open mobile video platform on which connectors can be created to integrate new video sources. We’re releasing that standard API so the many people in the industry can support their VMS, DVR or other platforms through the creation of their own connector and quickly bring our mobile interfaces to their systems.
